Treat Boulevard at Buskirk Avenue in Walnut Creek serves as the gateway entry to the adjacent Contra Costa Centre Transit Village. The Treat Boulevard medians from Buskirk Avenue to Cherry Lane are maintained by the Contra Costa Centre and improvements are funded by the County. Stakeholders included the Contra Costa Centre Executive Director, Lynette Busby, the Contra Costa Centre landscape maintenance contractor and CCPWD Special Districts Division. The existing irrigation system and large mature trees were kept intact; most shrubs and ground cover were removed. Existing river cobble previously used as a ground cover treatment in some medians was reused as part of the renovated landscape. Originally planned to be installed in three phases, all landscape renovation work was completed at the same time in 2012.
